1. Information We Collect

Handshake to Signal collects information provided directly by campaign staff on behalf of the campaigns using our platform, and information submitted by contacts through our hosted consent page (handshaketosignal.com/consent) and standard SMS interactions.

The personal data processed by our infrastructure may include:

  • Identity Data: First name, last name, and where applicable, public voter registration status used solely for district and voter alignment verification.
  • Contact Data: Mobile phone numbers, physical/mailing addresses, and email addresses.
  • SMS Consent Data: Whether you have opted into or out of SMS communications, and the timestamps of those actions. This data is collected when you submit the opt-in form on our consent page or send a keyword (STOP, START, etc.) by text message.
  • Interaction Data: Text message logs, confirmation responses, and volunteer interest markers relevant to the Campaign you opted into.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information exclusively to facilitate secure and efficient onboarding for the designated campaign. Specifically, this data is used to:

  • Process and manage volunteer contact information that you explicitly submit to us.
  • Verify political and district alignment against public voter registration records to protect our community’s operational integrity.
  • Send transactional SMS confirmations, onboarding updates, and instructions on how to join team messaging groups.
  • Provide campaign administrators with a prioritized dashboard for volunteer management and personal follow-ups.

3. Strict Prohibitions on Data Sharing (A2P 10DLC Compliance)

We maintain a strict stance against the commercialization or unauthorized dissemination of personal information.

Mobile Information and Opt-In Data:Personal information—specifically including, but not limited to, mobile phone numbers, SMS consent documentation, and text message opt-in data—will not be shared, sold, rented, leased, or cross-shared with third parties, affiliates, partners, or other organizations for marketing, promotional, or data-pooling purposes under any circumstances. This prohibition specifically includes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent records, which will never be shared with any third parties or affiliates.

All text messaging and data capturing are strictly transactional and isolated for internal use by Handshake to Signal and the campaign to which you provided consent.

4. Data Security

We implement robust, professional-grade security tracking and technological barriers to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of personal data. Internal data queues are heavily isolated to protect the operational integrity of each client campaign.

5. Opt-Out and Data Deletion

You retain complete control over the text messages you receive. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP, STOPALL, QUIT, END, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE to any text message sent by our system. Upon receipt, all further messages to your number from that Campaign will stop immediately and you will receive a single confirmation text.

To re-subscribe after opting out, reply START or UNSTOP to the same number.

To request deletion of your personal data from our platform, email us at [email protected] with your name and phone number. We will process your request within 30 days.
